Luna Technologies is at the forefront of innovation in the cannabis industry, specializing in the development of cutting-edge solutions for extracting cannabis oil. With a strong commitment to safety and environmental sustainability, Luna Tech pioneers hydrocarbon extraction equipment that not only meets but sets new standards within the cannabis extraction landscape.

Luna Tech reached out to me to redesign their trade booth displays. The objective was to elevate their current branding, introduce fresh booth concepts, and showcase their latest technological marvel – the Oberon Extractor. My collaboration with Luna Tech was an exciting opportunity to visually amplify their commitment to excellence in cannabis extraction. Through dynamic design, I aimed to capture the essence of Luna Tech's technological prowess and reinforce the as industry leaders.

The Project

  • Solidify and expand the existing branding.

  • Create new designs for existing trade show booth floor plans.

The Goal

  • Make Luna Tech a recognizable brand.

  • Increase the audience’s knowledge of Luna Tech and their product.

The Challenge

  • Incorporating existing branding into a harmonious brand identity.

  • Creating an engaging and informative booth display without sacrificing interactability.

Concepts

Our initial goal was to craft a captivating concept for an upcoming show, laying the foundation for the subsequent expansion of their brand identity. The show was in 1.5 months which made for a tight turn around. I developed three distinct concepts that integrated their existing broad space theme. These concepts served as a strategic guide, setting the stage for a refined and expanded brand narrative.

Classic NASA

This concept is inspired by NASA’s worm era. With the space race over, NASA launched the “worm” logo and its branding in 1975 turning its attention to space expeditions and research. Although the initial excitement of getting into space was over, new doors had been blown wide open for innovation and exploration. My goal with this concept is to embody that enthusiasm for new frontiers.

New Space Age

This concept is inspired by electric vehicles. Electric vehicles have become high end forms of transportation offering more than just a chauffeur to and from your destinations. This concept is intended to be sleek and modern with a playful handcrafted twist to make it more approachable. It is meant to invoke a modern, but playful look. My goal is to make high end look approachable.

Space Cartography

This concept is inspired by astrology, cartography, and video games and movies set in futuristic outer space. This concept is designed to resemble flight control screens, cosmic maps, and highly organized tightly compressed logs of information. It is info heavy and leans into the sci-fi genre. My aim to make the audience feel like they’re in the future of technology and space travel.

Progression

The concept that we all got the most excited about was space cartography. Luna Tech felt like it aligned with their idea of innovation and felt like like it had the most options for growth. After some discussion we concluded that it would be wiser to use an older design for their up and coming trade show rather than rush the development of this concept. I continued to develop this concept while I waited for the requirements of the next show.

Pivoting

Overall Luna Tech was very enthusiastic about the development of the Space Cartography concept. The main piece of feedback I got was that they wanted to begin including their product into the samples I was making.

At the same time I received the floor plans for the next booth which along with new wall and display sizes included a new asset - a HAL Extraction booth. The HAL is a safe room that helps ensure the safety of employees during the extraction process. While Luna Tech was already designing automated extraction machines that were already making the process much safer, the HAL takes safety to another level. Considering Luna Tech’s commitment to safety, the HAL was going to be a great addition to their show booth not only to display safety, but to also show how the two could work together.

Product Integration

I incorporated their machinery into the samples I was making and began talking with Luna Tech about making separate displays to spotlight their products.

Expansion

I started to develop graphics to be displayed in accordance with the new dimensions and requirements.

Exploring the HAL

Luna Tech was planning to display the smaller HAL at the trade show we were working on. We wanted to vinyl wrap the entire thing, inside and out, to not only make it more branded, but to also incorporate it into the experience of discovery that we were creating in the booth.

The outside designs were to be targeted at representing the brand. This included clear display of the brand name, logo, website QR code, and the brand qualities.

The inside was not as thought out when it was brought to me. My suggestion was to create a galaxy of stars and light it from the bottom close to the floor. To pair with the space cartography theme I really wanted to lean into the sci-fi aspect of the theme and create almost a space walk feel inside of the HAL. Inside the interior I suggested having a company timeline along one of the walls, monitors along another that would display how the HAL and Luna Tech's machinery would work together along the opposite wall, and on the back wall their would be an interactive display or activity that could help draw people to go into the HAL.

Outside Samples

It’s a Wrap!

The new layout and HAL designs generated a lot of excitement! Unfortunately the project was put on ice due to lack of funds so the project ends here.

This project was really enjoyable to work on and would be a project that I would be happy to revisit later on if the funding becomes available.
